Guide Specification for Post-Frame Building Systems

Specifiers and other design professionals are invited to edit the NFBA Guide Specification for Post-Frame Building Systems document to create specifications for their post-frame projects.

Click here to download the Guide Specification for Post-Frame Building Systems in Microsoft Word format.

Guide Specification inputs and output are organized in the familiar 3-part Masterspec format: General, Products, and Execution.

1. Click on Create New to begin a new document, type the project name in the Document Title, and click on Create Document. Click on a name in the list of Pending/Open Specifications to continue or edit an existing project specification.

2. Select from the menu on the left hand side of the screen to input data. Note that:

  • Italicized text indicates instructions for the specifier. These words are not part of the specification.
  • There are three types of data input: drop-down input boxes, blank boxes, and checklists.
  • For the drop-down boxes, click on the desired option or, if none of the selections fits your needs, leave the drop-down box option blank, move to the input box beside "other" and type in the appropriate words to complete the phrase or sentence.
  • For blank boxes, simply type in the desired data.
  • For checklists, check all of the items that are appropriate to the project; all the checked items will appear in the specification.

3. To save your inputs, scroll to the end of each section and click Save Answers and Go to the Next Section.

4. To save all your data, click Complete Document before proceeding to the output portion of the program. If you don't complete this step, you won't be able to print out the specification.

5. On the Post-Frame Guide Specification Home Page, scroll down until you find your building project title under Completed Specifications and click on Download RTF to download a Rich Text Format document that you can then edit to produce a final specification.
